I have always preferred this style holster for every phone I've owned for their slim profile. That said each holster has dropped my phone. Moto V551, Treo 650, Samsung Blackjack, and Treo 750. Despite the various manufacturers, they all fail at one time or another.
For this particular holster, my Treo 750 fell out after one week. I realized after looking at the profile of my phone in the holster, the top clip is slightly bigger than the phone and therefore it does not fit snugly against the phone. For this reason the top clip is unable to apply enough pressure to the phone to hold it in place.
I have always carried this style holster horizontally because it's easier to sit in my car. I found that turning this holster to a vertical position solved the problem. It did so because it now presses against my body, providing the pressure needed on the top clip to hold my phone securely. It has taken some getting used to, but I really prefer this style of holster and since then, four weeks ago, my phone has not fallen out of the holster.
Thinking back, I carried all the previous holsters horizontally too. I'm sure that made a difference. Hopefully someone will construct a true-fitting holster for each phone. It took all of two seconds to see the gap between my phone and the top clip, I wonder who was in charge of field testing and inspecting? Bottom line for me is no matter who makes it this style holster is a gamble. Either go for a bulkier fully secure case, or go for a slim profile holster and remember you're taking a chance.
