Just to counterpoint an earlier review, the Garmin site specifically DOES say that XT works on Palm OS, which includes the Treo 680. Additionally, many users on Treocentral and Treonauts use this software daily on their 680s and Centros.

The issue is not whether or not the Garmin XT software works on the Treo 680, but whether it works as advertising by simply slipping the Garmin XT data card into the phone, or does it also need a separate receiver? Im sure that the Palm OS can talk to the Garmin maps and program... but can the Treo talk to the GPS satellite, or does this require another piece of hardware like the Freedom Keychain GPS Module for Bluetooth or the Palm GPS Carkit Receiver? My Palm store and the PDA help desk at my mobile carrier tell me that no Palm phone links directly to the GPS satellite the way a Blackberry does. Perhaps the Treonaut reviewer can look into this and give us an authoritative answer -- I get the feeling that all the tech-support people Im talking to are just reading scripts and filling in the blanks to try and end the phone call quickly.

According to the Garmin Website, the Mobile XT compatible phones list doesnt include the Palm Treo, including the 680. Its not too cool that the Treonauts ad lists this product under the Treo! Buyer beware! If others know different, please post.
