Incompatable with Treo 650/680 and TomTom Naviagtor 5 and 6
User: Ram White, Oct 1, 2007
Pros: Small, light weight.
Cons: Incompatibility with Treo 650/680 using TomTom Navigator
I have purchased a Freedom CPS receiver and have been able to pair (Bluetooth) with both a Treo 650 running TomTom Navigator 5 and Treo 680 running TomTom Navigator 6, however, neither unit can detect the GPS signal under any adn all available TomTom settings or configuration. TomTom has confirmed with me during customer service calls that they have not tested or verified the Freedom GPS receiver and therefore will not confirm or guarantee its compatibility.

Not so great with a Treo 750 (Windows Mobile)
User: Aaron -, Oct 7, 2007
The reception seems inconsistent. I had a hard time establishing a clear signal (where other GPSs would work fine), and couldn't consistently maintain a signal. Getting the bluetooth to work with Windows Mobile 5 was a chore and often I needed to turn off/on both devices.

The blinking lights on this thing are crazy. They blink in all sorts of patterns that are hard to understand or make any use of.

I tried the bluetooth connectivity with both Google Maps for WM and Live Maps for WM and both occasionally had a signal that worked. The device was attached to my keychain. A Garmin GPS (nuvi) sitting on the floor under my feet had nearly perfect reception, but this couldn't maintain a decent signal and successfully communicate withe my WM Treo 750.

It has no memory of it's own, so it's not useful standalone.

I'm returning mine since it just isn't reliable enough to use.

Love it
User: John McNeil, Oct 31, 2007
I got one of these and use it on my HTC touch (personal phone) and my BlackBerry Curve (Work phone). Works great on both, on the BlackBerry I just paired it, went into BBmaps and changed the GPS source and away it went (got a lock on 4 satellites from inside!). On the HTC the setup was slightly more complicated because you need to set up COM ports and use the GPS manager built into Windows Mobile. This is the same for all bluetooth GPS units though (my old bulky holex did worked the same way).

I use telenav and Windows Live Search on my Touch and it worked fine with both. If it is not working on a WM device then it is more then likely because you haven't set up a COM port for it correctly.

Haven't taken it on any really long trips yet but taking out and about locally it has done a great job of tracking my position.

Works fine for me
User: J. S., Jan 21, 2008
I have Treo 750v with Tom Tom 6 and this little thing is just what I needed. Its very small, very light and very easy to use.

It took me some time to figure out how to pair the two devices because Ive never actually used BT before, but since I paired them, I can just run Tom Tom and the GPS will automatically turn on and lock (takes about 15 seconds) and Im free to go.

And the LEDs are totally easy to understand, if you read those two lines in the manual..
